ALABAMA CAMPAIGN TO PREVENT TEEN PREGNANCY INC
A verified US-registered nonprofit
ACPTP provides statewide leadership on the issue of teen pregnancy prevention through collaboration, education, training, and advocacy.
The Alabama Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy was founded in 1999, and incorporated in 2002, in response to a deep concern among community members that Alabama had one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the United States. Though Alabama has made progress in reducing teen pregnancy since 1999, we remain among the states with the highest teen pregnancy rates. In 2010, there was an estimated 10,548 teen pregnancies, a rate of 32.5, in Alabama among girls aged 10-19. Of these pregnancies, 7,446 resulted in live birth.
As a campaign, we provide statewide leadership on the issue of teen pregnancy prevention through collaboration, education, training, and advocacy; thereby reducing teen pregnancy and improving the well-being of Alabama's children, families, and communities.
Our priorities are to:
Key markets: Black Belt, Wiregrass, Mobile, Selma, Auburn, Opelika, Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery
Key words: youth, pregnancy, prevention, advocacy, education, training, collaboration, policy, evidence-based, science-based, sex education, schools
