BIRMINGHAM CHILDRENS CHOIR

BIrmingham Girls Choir (formely the Birmigham Children's Choir) is a choral music program for girls, consisting of three separate choirs. The choirs study and perform a variety of secular and sacred choral literature including classical, folk, contemporary, world, gospel and jazz styles. Weekly rehearsals reinforce music reading skills, vocal techniques, stage presence and rehearsal etiquette.

Prelude Singers

This choir will focus on the needs and abilities of girls in Grades 1 and 2. These, our youngest singers, will enjoy learning age-appropriate musical concepts through singing, movement, musical games and activities. The emphasis will be to nurture a love of music in these precious youngsters. The Prelude Singers will perform in the annual holiday and spring concerts.

Intermezzo

This choir consists of girls in Grades 3 – 5 and will focus on good singing, a development of basic rhythmic understanding, solfege and the excitement of learning and performing music as a choir. The goal of this choir is to meet the developmental needs of upper-grade elementary students. Intermezzo Singers will perform in the annual holiday and spring concerts as well as other occasional community performances.

Una Vocé

This choir consists of girls in Grades 6 and higher. Singers in this choir will enjoy singing music of a challenging nature as they continue to learn and practice good singing and musical skills. The goal of this choir is to challenge and meet the musical needs of middle school, junior high and high school students.
