Birmingham Landmarks, Inc was formed to purchase the Alabama Theatre. The theatre relies on its events & donations for daily operations.

In 1987, the non-profit organization, Birmingham Landmarks, Inc, was formed to purchase the Alabama Theatre and save the Mighty Wurlitzer.

A handful of very dedicated volunteers led by Cecil Whitmire and his wife Linda, resurrected the Alabama to entertain thousands of people each year.

After years of running the Alabama, Birmingham Landmarks, Inc acquired the Lyric Theatre. Fundraising efforts have begun to save the Lyric.

Today, the Alabama Theatre hosts events such as: concerts, movies, graduations, & dance recitals.

The Lyric Theatre will be a perfect facility for performing arts, such as ballet, symphony, opera, and concerts.

All proceeds from Alabama Gives day will be distributed between both the Alabama and Lyric Theatres.

I was at the Alabama tonight for "Best in Show" -- we all said afterwards how lucky we are that we have not lost this gem. So now it's time to move on putting the Lyric back in action too. Thank you!
