THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTH ALABAMA INC

For over 54 years, the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama, Inc. has served youth ages 6 through 18 through its Clubs and community outreach programs. We offer programs in five core areas: Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; the Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Activities are structured with special attention to achieving outcomes in the areas of academic success, the development of good character and citizenship, and adopting healthy lifestyles. We are an affiliate of Boys and Girls Clubs of America and a member of the Alabama Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs. We currently operate six Clubs, three of which are located within inner-city minority neighborhoods within the city of Mobile, and three which are in rural, underserved communities of Mobile County. In addition, we operate an alternative school for adjudicated youth, and a 21st Century Classroom after-school program at a local middle school. We also own Camp Chandler-Tonsmeire which provides an outdoors experience for our youth. The Clubs are open five days a week and are safe places where members ages 6 through 18 are nurtured and helped to realize their full potential. In 2010, the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama served 6,382 (unduplicated count) youth.
