As a faith based organization, we assist families in Baldwin County with emergency aid, food, home repair, and community development.
Ecumenical Ministries is a non-denominational, comprehensive social service agency providing services to low income families and individuals in Baldwin County, Alabama for over forty years. We have seven programs which include: two Emergency Aid Centers (with food pantries), Meals on Wheels, Prescription Assistance, Home Repair, Community Development, Christmas Sharing and Emmy's Thrift Shop. Through these programs we fulfill our mission statement to the residents of Baldwin County.
Our success is both tangible and intangible. The tangible success we have achieved is easy to evaluate. We could list all of the homes that we have repaired and handicapped ramps built through our Home Repair Program. We could also list the roads that have been paved, sidewalks that have been built in low income neighborhoods and clean water that our Community Development Program was instrumental in securing for parts of Baldwin County. Our Emergency Aid Program could list the many times it has made a difference in people's lives with emergency medical assistance, food, preventing homelessness, and keeping utilities on for clients that have found themselves in tough economic times. Our success could also be measured in the number of children and homebound elderly that have received the gift of caring from the community through our annual Christmas Sharing Program.
Of the intangible level of success we've achieved EMI is also proud. It is reflected in our very positive reputation that has been build these many years, with staff and volunteers who believe strongly in the organization's mission. We are a faith-based organization that practices its faith by helping to address emergency needs of individuals in our community. We address these needs with the mind set of helping people help themselves. We do our best to improve the lives of our clients by giving them hope that things can get better if they put forth the effort needed to make them better. We can not address all needs by any stretch of the imagination, or solve all problems that we are presented with, but we do have over forty years of experience that is respected in the communities we serve. We get referrals from through-out the community, churches, police departments, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Many clients say they did not know where to turn, when someone suggested they call Ecumenical Ministries, we were there to help. Indeed we are!
