Kairos Outside is a non-denominational christian ministry for women whose lives have been impacted by incarceration.

Kairos Outside is designed to support the families of men, women and youth who are, or have been incarcerated in the country's state and federal correctional facilities as well as county jails and youth offender programs. The spouses, parents, other relatives and friends of the incarcerated often "do time" right along with their relatives/friends. It is important for them to know that they are not alone and that there is a Christian Community that cares about them. This support is provided in a safe environment with Christian Volunteers during a Kairos Outside Weekend. During this weekend, the Guests will have a chance to interact with other women who are in similar situations and learn how to form Small Groups of support, thereby giving them strength in their life journey. Many of these women are dealing with issues of isolation, rejection, financial hardship and loneliness. The weekend is nondenominational and is totally free for the guests.

. I am a former guest, volunteer, and former weekend leader. It is a worthwhile non-denominational ministry for women whose lives have been touched personally by the incarceration of someone they know or care about. I know firsthand how the weekend experience offers hope where hope seemed lost. I had never laughed, cried, ate, and sang all at the same time before in my whole life! I now have a network of friends through Christ that I may never have had the opportunity to meet had I not stepped out in faith and attended a weekend retreat with strangers in May of 2001. That is important because most women who are going through something like the incarceration of a loved one feel that they are alone and no one understands what she is going through.
