Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid and services to low income people in all 67 counties in Alabama.

In order to qualify for services, a client’s household income must not exceed 125% of the federal poverty level, which amounts to $27,940.00 gross annual income for a family of four. LSA helps keep families together by providing legal representation in domestic abuse cases, keeping a home, maintaining income, and receiving the benefits clients are eligible to receive.

Over the past few years, LSA has been a frontrunner in helping people who had legal problems as a result of the BP Oil Spill and the devastating tornadoes in Alabama in April 2011.

In 2011, LSA helped approximately 14,000 households with legal problems. LSA helps people who cannot afford to pay an attorney and have nowhere else to turn.

LSA is committed to being a good steward of our donor’s gifts. LSA spends 88¢ of every dollar on direct client services.
