Media for Health tells stories that inspire healthier living, and we are taking on critical health issues one soap opera at a time! Using the principles of entertainment education, we reach listeners with health promotion messages woven into stories with soap opera plots, twists and turns. Since 2006 we have produced five serial dramas that reach audiences in Alabama and beyond.

The episodes are broadcast within locally produced radio programs where listeners ask questions and are linked to local resources.

And entertainment education works! Listeners report real changes such as an increase in physical activity, talking more to friends and family about healthy lifestyle changes and getting screened for diabetes. And it’s not just individual behavior change that our soap operas address. Story lines revolve around entire communities ensuring their neighborhoods are safe, walkable and smoke free.

Your support keeps us on the air and engaged with those in our community who most struggle with obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other preventable illnesses that keep Alabama one of the unhealthiest states in the nation.
