Since 1952, the Mulherin Custodial Home, founded by Dr. Hugh G. Mulherin, has been a source of constant, loving care for people with developmental disabilities. The Home was started because of Dr. Mulherin's own child's special needs, because he knew firsthand not only the difficulties families face, but also the joys that exist when a life is cultivated with love and support, focusing on abilities, rather that disabilities.

The staff and Board of Directors of the Mulherin Home are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the individuals in their care. This is accomplished by providing a loving home-like setting where the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of the residents are provided with the utmost respect, keeping our focus on helping them cultivate their abilities, rather than focusing on their disabilities.
