By giving to our agency, you are helping wonderful people realize the dream that all of us have - to be independent and care for themselves to the greatest extent possible. By being a part of The Arc - Tuscaloosa County, we work with people who simply want genuine friendship and to be given the same opportunity that you and I have.

We have four different programs that help people with tasks as basic as combing their own hair to the advanced such as finding and maintaining community employment so they can become tax-paying citizens of the community. We also have a choir named The Sounds of Joy that travels and performs at nursing homes, conferences and various businesses. They absolutely love to perform as this is clearly visible with each performance. We also have a Greenhouse that allows them to grow, care for and sell plants. We stress community involvement through volunteer work, community employment, recreational activities and shopping throughout Tuscaloosa. By doing so, it helps the people we serve become active participants of Tuscaloosa.

Most importantly, we provide advocacy for them as we realize that they are people and should be afforded the same human rights as every citizen in our country. They have feelings, love, laugh and want to be accepted just like you and me. So, we are the voice for them when there is silence. When they need someone to stand up for them, offer them true friendship and/or defend them when people try to take advantage of them, this agency readily answers the call. Everyone at this agency cares dearly for the wonderful people we serve and would do whatever is needed for them.

We have gained a lot of steam in providing these services to the people we serve and helping them achieve a high quality of life. Unfortunately, these are difficult financial times. Money is tight and funding is limited. In order to continue our momentum and provide these services, we need your help. Any donation you make would be greatly appreciated.
